Haba na Haba Faith

With Dad in ICU and Mom at the end of her tether I find that my faith is challenged. How do I believe God? What do I believe for? Sometimes it seems like he would be better off with his maker and at other times he looks well enough that we think he will stick around with us for a while. Reading Heb 11 I find myself out of my league. Here are the giants of faith and I can’t even master enough to see God heal my dad. I feel like a faith loser. So I’m wondering, can I use the Haba na Haba approach to faith?

The Swahili saying Haba na Haba hujaza kibaba encourages us to do things in bite sizes in order to achieve a greater objective. What if I believed God for small things step by step? Yesterday dad came off the ventilator and I was so blessed. I celebrated one small victory. What if today I believe God that he will be able to stay awake more and even drink some tea or something else? Isn’t that faith? Then I can believe God that he will breathe without the need for oxygen the next day. And then I can believe for God to get him to a regular ward and so on and so forth. At the end of the day will my faith not have caused the mountain to move?

Most people are overwhelmed in their faith walk, just like I have been, because the level of their faith in certain areas is not quite so developed. Let us take a bite size approach to faith. Haba na Haba utajaza kibaba.

MIRACULOUS HEALING IN THE SHOWER

Hey!! God has just done me well. For the last 2 months I have been having trouble with my jaw. It felt out of alignment and was making clicking sounds when I chewed until 3 weeks ago when it became worse. It became painful and I could not chew so I went to see the dentist. They did everything they could. They took an x-ray and saw nothing. Then they knocked on my teeth with a steel bar and they were fine so they couldn’t figure out what was up. He thought it was an infection and gave me antibiotics and pain pills for a week. The pain eased up and I felt better but as soon as my dose of meds was over I was back to square one.

This time I resolved to see a GP in the hopes of being referred to a specialist. That is exactly what happened. The specialist hit right at the gland and knew where my pain was. I thought to myself “This one has hit it head on. He must know what he is talking about.” I was put on more meds. Stronger antibiotics, anti-inflammatory pills and more pain meds. As long as I was on the meds I was doing good, but as soon as they were done I was back to square one. I was getting frustrated.

I went back to the doc on Wednesday and he was surprised that the meds had not done what they were supposed to. He of course put me on another regimen this time with a medicament that I would paint on to the site of the glad. It would numb it and I was able to chew and such. This morning after I had posted my blogs and prayed to God about my role as a kingdom financier I went to the shower. I was washing my face when suddenly it felt like someone grabbed my jaws and moved them roughly one way and then the other causing my teeth to grind loudly against each other. There was no pain and I just instantly knew that God had fixed it. My teeth felt aligned and I could clench them, something I have not been able to do for 2 months.

As I was giving God the glory for my healing he said to me “This is a sign to you that you have aligned yourself with heaven just as your jaw has been aligned.” I am so blessed. I am testifying to everyone that God has healed my jaw. What a mighty God we serve!!!

Wow!!

God just connected these two verses for me. I'm so amazingly jazzed.

Joshua 1:8

"Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful"

As you keep God's word on your mind, mouth and actions the results are 3 John 2

"Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth."

You prosper all round. Your soul begins to prosper from the revelations that God downloads, you get material wealth and health as well.

I just never saw that before. So the way to fulfill God's highest wish for man "...I wish above all things..." is to keep his word in your mouth, meditate on it and do it. Are we blessed or what ya'll?!!!!

Sleep Woman!

I am usually the type to go and keep on going. As such, I get worn out really quick because I push myself beyond the limits. Well, yesterday was such a day. My weekend was filled with work on Saturday and Church on Sunday and by yesterday afternoon I was totally pooped. I was in bed before 8pm. I feel really good this morning. Very refreshed and just ready to face my day and the rest of the week. Don't know about you, but I need a full night of sleep every now and then.

Genesis 2:2
"By the seventh day God had finished the work he had been doing; so on the seventh day he rested from all his work".

Resist the Urge!

As I had said on an earlier blog, it never ceases to amaze me how I can take something absolutely wonderful and turn it into an utter nightmare. In the months of March and April I was working out like I had never done before. I was doing everything that I needed to be doing but I was not loosing weight. It bothered me that I was not shaking the plateau, but they said change the excercises so I did. That shook off two pounds and then I stagnated again. Now I was working out in the AM and in the PM and still nothing. I should have been loosing weight like crazy based on the Math, but nothing was happening. So finally I cried out to God about it and he answered me. He said I was doing things in the flesh and had stepped away from what he had told me to do.

So I went back to the original Jesus plan. Eat when you are hungry (true stomach hunger) and stop when you are satisfied. That was 13 days ago. Since then, I have shed 8 pounds effortlessly. I am smaller now than I have been in years!!! I am so blessed!

I find that my greatest challenge has been to wait for true stomach hunger before I can eat. Most of the time, I just want the taste of something in my mouth, other times I just want to eat because I am stressed and other times, like now, I just want to eat coz I can! That is the "lust of the flesh" I should not just feed my body because I want to eat.

Ok,let me say it again for those who think it is ok to eat just because the food is there and you can. THE LUST OF THE FLESH INCLUDES EATING NOT BECAUSE YOU ARE HUNGRY BUT BECAUSE YOU FEEL LIKE IT! Yeah! Talk about taking the wind out of my sails! I am blessed, however, that God does give us a way out of every trial and struggle and this morning he said in James 4:7 "Submit yourselves then to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you." So now when I am struggling to wait for true stomach hunger I submit myself to God and in the name of Jesus I resist the lust of the flesh.

As I continue I am sure that I will see great progress and will be able to share it with you.

What's God got to do with it?

Everything. God's got everything to do with it. Even when we think he is not concerned he is. I am learning that God wants to be involved in everything I do, and I mean everything even the none important stuff.

I have always been big. A big girl growing up and now an even bigger woman. Well, at the end of January I finally decided to come up with a weight loss plan that would get me down from (O Lord!) 236lbs to 150lbs. Well, guess what? When I was done putting together my plan, I realised that the Holy Spirit within me was grieved. I began to pray and ask him what had grieved him and he revealed to me that my plans had been made in the flesh. God wanted me to lose weight and he was glad I was finally getting pro-active about it, but what was up with me leaving him out of the plan. I realised that in a lot of my plans, I just go ahead and make them then ask him to bless them so they actually give the desired result.

But what if God wants to accelerate my plans so that I acheive more quicker? What if he has a better, struggle free plan? That threw me for a loop. So I started to pray for a God plan instead of my plan. The Lord said to me "This year you need to come out of the flesh and do all things supernaturally." The following are the steps he took me through:

a) Binding the strong man - You cannot have success unless you bind the strong man so you can spoil his goods. For me the strong man was a crazy menatality that I was supposed to be fat all my life, and also the spirit of Gluttony.

b) He led me through a prayer in which I commanded each and every cell, organ, body part to be made whole and to perform in the perfection for which it was created.c)

c)I made prophetic declarations over my body which included commanding all the excess weight to leave my body, speaking out the weight I wanted to become and declaring that from then on, I only eat when trully hungry.

Then he gave me a very simple plan. He said:

a) Drink lots of water
b) Eat when you are hungry and stop when you are full
c) Walk everywhere instead of driving (of course within reason)

Guess what? In three weeks I have lost 11 lbs effortlessly. I have not had to struggle and sweat and starve myself to death. And I feel great. Now he has said that I will have to lift weights and do other things as we progress, but I will share all this with you on "Skinny Friday"

I will chronicle my progress and if you have any questions please feel free to ask and I will do my best to assist. I'm loving the progress made and I can't wait to take off all the weight.

Bottom line is, we need to let God be God of all areas of our lives including eating. I will discuss all this with you as we go on. In the meantime... Have a skinny day won't you?

Update!!

It's been a while!! I am happy to report that my surgery was very successful and I am recovering faster than I could have ever thought possible. And God has been teaching me all kinds of things, I can't wait to start blogging regularly again so I can share!!! Here is something to think about though:

a) Prophetic Entrepreneurship
b) Leveraging the Universe

He is just blowing me away. My faith is huge and he keeps pumping me and pushing me to believe him for the impossible. Dan 11:32 comes to mind "They that KNOW their God shall be strong and do exploits" This is where we are at in the business world. So all you wonderful business minds out there, begin to call on the name of the Lord. Seek him until you find him. Let him come down and show you great and mighty things you knew not about! He is faithfull and I love him! Hallelujah to the King of Kings, Lord of Lords, the author and the finisher of all I do, the Great I AM, Alpha and Omega!!

Get set... Go!

I have all my papers in place, ready to do the tests and scan and then I can be admitted the night of the 10th for surgery the 11th. I feel good about it. The only thing is that I won't get to go to the coast as I had planned because of all the pre-surgery arrangements. No biggie. Will do it after recovery I guess.

I just found out that my godson has the chicken pox and I was with him all weekend. I have never had them, so I am praying that I don't catch them. Especially when I am trying to get surgery done. Man! That would be lousy luck. Say a prayer now

Postponed

My Doc postponed my surgery to October 11th. I am very disappointed. You kinda have to syke yourself up for this stuff and I had just got to the point where I was like "Bring it on!" and now I have to wait for a bit longer. That just deflates me.
I'm thinking I might take a trip to mombasa to pass the time. Just me, all by myself. And I can enjoy the beach, the warmth and the silence. Maybe I will go next friday and come back on Wednesday ready for surgery on Thursday. Not sure yet.
Yup! I may just go down to the coast!

10 days to go and counting...

Well, it's just 10 days to surgery. I can't wait, but I am also nervous about it. There is a lot to be done at work and I want to make sure all is on point here before I leave. At the same time God is really talking to me about being anointed for business. I know that I am an entrepreneur so it's good to hear that God is backing up his children in the business world and blessing us to succeed. I want to look more into that during my two months at home.

I hear his voice!

This one has come from one of my favourite blogs "An helpmeet for him" it says:

TRUST: Believe in his intentions and abilities and don’t worry about what “could go wrong”.

WOW! I hear the voice of the Lord concerning my surgery. How awesome is that! I believe that your intentions for me are for good and not for evil, to give me a future and a hope (Jer 29:11) and I believe that you are able to do abundantly above that which I can ever think or imagine (Eph 3:20)and I determine not to worry about what could go wrong!!

Woo hoo!!!

Trusting God

Lately I have been very tumultuous inside. I think most of it stems from the fact that my surgery is only about 3 weeks away. I hate to admit it, but much as I am looking forward to it, I am afraid. Not of the surgery, but of what could happen. If I bleed to much, or they can not reconstruct my uterus they may have to take it out. How I'm I supposed to take that seeing as I have never had children and would like to in the future? I am also afraid because I have some in my cervix as well and they say that is a very difficult place to operate. What does that mean for me? I'm worried about scarring my cervix. How will that affect my sex life in the future? Will I be able to feel much down there? UUUUUGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!

I'm I just worrying too much about nothing? At times like this it is really hard to just trust God and say let your will be done. I have been angry with him as well. Here I have been trying to do his will and wait for him to bring the man of my dreams so we can get married and start a family and I there is the very real possibility that I may not be able to do that. I have abstained from sex for the same reason and if my cervix gets messed up, I may never really get to enjoy sex. How do you get past these feelings of anger and fear?

Psalm 56:3 says "When I am afraid, I will trust in you" Now that right there is faith. Right now I am just angry at everything it seems. But I need to chill out and trust God to go with me through this. To not be afraid. To be still and know that he is God. I don't know how it will look on the other side of fibroid freedom, but Lord knows this side is a mess. I might as well walk with Jesus on the water and look to him alone.

I have read many stories of miracles. Of people without a womb, miraculously getting one and having children. But right now, I just want to be normal. I never want to have to pray that kind of prayer or get that kind of a miracle. I just want to be normal.

I am praying for trust. That I may trust that he knows the way. That he created me in my mother's womb, knitting me together, knowing that this day would come. Above all, he made provision for me whatever the outcome may be. Fill my heart with gratitude and praise regardless of the outcome Lord. Forgive my unbelief and distrust. Hold my hand and lead me in the way everlasting. May I find my peace in you. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen!

Myomectomy

I am due for my myomectomy on October 5th. Crazy as it may seem I am so ready for it. I was diagnosed in February of this year and have just been too chicken to do it. Fibroids are benign tumors of the uterus that cause the following symptoms:
Abnormal menstrual bleeding. Up to 30% of women with fibroids have menstrual period changes, such as:
Heavier, prolonged periods that can cause anemia.
Painful periods.
Spotting before or after periods.
Bleeding between periods.
Pelvic pain and pressure, such as:
Pain in the abdomen, pelvis, or low back.
Pain during sexual intercourse.
Bloating and feelings of abdominal pressure.
Urinary problems, such as:
Frequent urination.
Leakage of urine (urinary incontinence).
Kidney blockage following ureter blockage (rare).
Other symptoms, such as:
Difficulty or pain with bowel movements.
Infertility. Sometimes, fibroids make it difficult to become pregnant.
Problems with pregnancy, such as placental abruption and premature labor.
Miscarriage.

Needless to say it has been hell for the last few months. I quit a really stressful job and took one that was not that bad in a bid to cope, but I just have to go get them out now. The list of complications is not that encouraging, but I have a really good doctor and should be good to go in 6 to 8 weeks after the surgery. I am not really planning to go back to work till January of 2008. I want to take this opportunity to rest and just chill out with God. Prayers are needed here. Will keep you updated.
